That’s is awesome to hear! Curious to hear where you found a set. Hope you got a good deal and welcome along the journey. Going to be starting volume 5 soon, so we have a long way to go! Haha
I read it on kindle. yes i know, it is not ideal. I am just kicked to see this effort in making this magnum opus understanding made available. Gem of a work and a inspiration for me to finish my work.
Hi Rob… it’s John Driscoll in Singapore… my older brother Richard gifted me a sub… read quite a few of theseduring one year Western Civ course at Stanford in 1973… Greek epics, tragedies, picaresque novels… Odyssey, Aeneid, Dante, Don Quixote never get old… the journey is the reward
I truly appreciate you watching my videos. I am trying to convert all the videos into written form here on Substack. I think it will be helpful for quotes and references for the books we are going through. Stay blessed my friend!
I'm also from Louisiana. Yes our education system was lacking! My high school was consistently "a two-star school in decline." I am fascinated by what you are doing, and I look forward to seeing your work!
Impressive, Rob. My children are in a classical school and are putting my non-classical education to shame. I will try to tune in here as often as I can and pick up some crumbs from your feast -- enjoy it!
We are doing the same with ours and I am afraid they are going to pass me up very quickly! lol I am actually taking on this task to someone be able to help them along the journey. Glad to hear yours are on a great path and thanks so much for stopping in! Stay blessed my friend.
I just happen to have this in my book cases. It was my Dad's. I plan on catching up. I'd also like to know if you can direct me to a list where I can sort through them all and put them in the proper order they're meant to be in.
Nice! The Harvard Classics are a great set to have. They should be numbered 1-50 on the volumes but "thinking west" has put together a list that has them all in oder. I will link it here for you to check out. Thanks so much for reading and stay blessed my friend.
I too would have liked some classical training in my youth, but it’s also possible that if I was forced to read it I may not have been as enthusiastic about it. We’re also freer to make our own interpretations. Kudos to you for your undertaking, and good luck on the journey.
I agree! Forcing education I feel has been a big problem at least when I was growing up. No one ever really explained the "why". But, I probably would not have listened to that either. lol Thanks for reading my friend and stay blessed!
That’s so awesome to hear! Good luck on your journey and hope it is very rewarding. The Loeb classics have a great set and even just creating your own list would be good. Anxious to hear what you choose.
Oh, I didn't put the two accounts together. I feel that Substack is so isolated from other social media platforms that it is almost like its own thing. Glad to see you on here as well. Where are you from to know all those languages? That is the next thing I would like to focus on. Learning a different language. Just seems like such a vast mountain to start climbing.
Amazing series. I picked up the series now after reading about it here.

You can’t beat the kindle deal. It is hard to believe how inexpensive knowledge is nowadays.

It’s you! I started watching your series on YouTube a while back but I fell off. Maybe now is a good time to revisit that again:)

Awesome. I love reading and talking about the classics. An endless source of inspiration. I look forward to following your journey.
Glad to have you here! I have a good bit of catching up to do on Substack. Hope you have a blessed New Year!

Well glad to have you here and hope you enjoy the content! What part of Louisiana are you from? I am outside of Baton Rouge.
Lafayette :)
